Kick off spring, get on your feet, take out those dancing shoes and experience the Latin heat on March 26, Saturday, at the backstage of ECHS Theater! The ECHS Theater Dance Program is hosting the first ever “Backstage Salsa Dance Party” from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the said date to raise funds for the troupe’s NYC spring break trip, and it’s going to be a blast.
Everybody’s invited even if it’s an 18 years+ event because child care is available on site. It’s the perfect event for everyone, especially couples who want to have a grand time over the weekend and not have to worry about the little ones.
This semi-formal occasion is not just for great dancers and enthusiasts. All those who are interested in learning salsa will surely have a wonderful time on the dance floor as members of the dance program will be providing salsa dance lessons that don’t even require coupling. If you have yet to find your groove, you can bet that at this dance party, you’ll find the right moves to fully enjoy the three hours of dancing the party offers. You can expect to learn all the fundamental moves that are actually applicable to other popular Latin dances as well.
The event will have a Salsa DJ setting the Latin mood and playing the tunes, and to provide everybody a breather between dance numbers, there will be live dance performances from members of the dance program, as well as a live Afro-Cuban drumming performance to watch (or still dance to). Likewise, there will be refreshments and signature mocktails (to ensure nobody gets intoxicated and young event-goers stay safe), games and more!
Tickets to this salsa dance party are very affordable at just $20 in advance and $25 at the door. As for those who will be taking advantage of the childcare services, it’s $15 for one child and $10 for an additional child from the same family. Each child will be provided snacks and there are different fun activities lined up for them as well by the ECHS teens watching over them for the night.
So, don’t dare miss this opportunity to learn salsa, have a fun time with your partner, meet new people, and help a local group that’s elevating the artistic scene of the community. Come and join the first “Backstage Salsa Dance Party” of the ECHS Theater Dance Program the night before Easter.
