The Oakland Coliseum or the O.co Coliseum is more than just home to the Oakland A’s and the Raiders. This massive arena has played host to more than thrilling baseball games and football games. It has also presented productions from rock concert promoter Bill Graham and was Marvin Gaye’s first venue when he returned to live concerts. And Led Zeppelin made it the last stop for its final North American concert.

Clearly, there’s loads of history here at the Oakland Coliseum, and so it’s no wonder then that you would want to plot your weekends or evenings by looking through the arena’s events.

This quarter, Oakland Coliseum events have a mixed bag of sports and entertainment presentations. With renovations made and the addition of the Oracle Arena, you can take your pick from musical concerts of world-class pop acts to comedy troupes.

Alternately, you could root for your favorite team during Major League Baseball games or a National Football League match. This season, the A’s go up against Baltimore and Houston, among others, while the Raiders take on St. Louis, New York, and Green Bay, to name a few.

Of course, Oakland Coliseum sports events and concerts are not the only things you can enjoy in the West Coast port city. If you make your way toward Telegraph Avenue, you’ll have even more options for activities, particularly when you go on a Sunday.

What happens on a Sunday, you ask?

Well, the Telegraph Community puts on a spectacular array of performances and artisanal products into one art-filled, inspiring, and cool event. Enjoy the summer street fair on Sundays at Telegraph and Berkeley. The community, which sits on the edge of the UC Berkeley campus, transforms into an international scene with artists, poets, and musicians from different cultures. Locals mingle with tourists.

Bring the kids. Come with your partner or spouse. Enjoy a totally different kind of Berkeley entertainment with performances from an eight-piece Afro/Cuban band, from Celtic minstrels, from an old-time bluegrass jam band, from a swing and gypsy jazz group, and so many other diverse musical groups.

With the pleasant weather and friendly atmosphere, stay a little while longer and sample the Californian cuisine in the area. Telegraph Avenue is also home to international food, with restaurants that offer Thai, Japanese, Indian, and Italian fare. So you, and everyone in your party, are likely to find something here after enjoying a performance or two at the Sunday street fair.
