To borrow Wikipedia’s definition, “Cinemagraphs are still photographs in which a minor and repeated movement occurs, forming a video clip. They are published as an animated GIF or in other video formats, and can give the illusion that the viewer is watching an animation.”
Given our background in video production and our current array of digital marketing design services, it seems like Cinemagraphs were created just for us. In fact, without using that fancy name, we have indeed created our own version of Cinemagraphs several times in the past while creating video projects for some of our clients.
Here are five types of digital marketing tools for which we’ve used some form of cinemagraph animation in recent days:

These banners are a new MGR experiment. if you look closely, we animated the water, fire pit, and clouds directly from a static image!

Cinemagraphs are made by taking a series of photographs or a video recording, and, using image editing software, compositing the photographs or the video frames into a seamless loop of sequential frames. This is done in such a way that motion in part of the subject between exposures (like in the above examples) is perceived as a repeating or continued motion, in contrast with the stillness of the rest of the image.
